Today we started printing the posters for Zach Pietrini’s CD release show with Venna and Aches and Pains. This was our first poster we’ve done since our Devotion Prints back in early 2007. I got the chance to design it but had a few limitations. Since our palettes are 16 x 16 and our paper is 12.5 x 19, I had to somehow make it not be an issue. We used an awesome Carolina Slate and what we call ‘smokers lung’ black. We printed about 30 of these bad boys and plan on giving away a few of them. Probably going to sell them at the show (11-6 @ Trinity University) from $3-$5 / 2 Color Print on SnoCone French Paper.
Oh yeah, I picked up this awesome mug for Stephanie (the Ol’ Ball and Chain) at the Mall of America’s LEGO store. So rad. Anyways, talk about getting wild on a Wednesday night. I thought today I’d be in the shop, back home eating rice & chicken and by 3 am in bed.
Nope! Woke up around 11, made some coffee & eggs. Some booking stuff for Venna, Culpa, Giants and Into It. Over It. Hung out with my neighbor & close essay Phil. More coffee. Ordered some pizza and then ended up drinking about a bottle of whiskey and played Rock Band 2 with everyone who lives in our building. AWESOME NIGHT.
I was hoping the whiskey would help me sleep tonight but it didn’t. of course. it’s 6 am and no part in me wants to sleep. looks like i am going to restart watching Lost.
I guess I should have made a post about this a long time ago but I don’t think i’ve ever been this busy in my life. Twan moved in with us. Didn’t work out for him in Denver so he made the move to Chicago. We decided to start a screen printing business. For us, it seemed logical. In the past, we’ve designed shirts, printed some shirts and had a clothing company. The moment we ordered our 6 color press I knew it was a great idea. Twan moved back and we started making room in our apartment for this colossal production.
It’s been about 2 months since we’ve been printing and we’ve made some awesome success. Printed about 500 shirts. We’ve moved out of the apartment to a nice little space near Belmont and Austin. We have a ton more work to do. I need to make a website and Twan is doing a ton of design stuff.
Also, I’m writing a pilot to a tv show. More details coming soon. I need to sleep.
Spent all of the day at the Mall of America. What a wonderful place. Took some crucial shots at the mall. You can check everything out HERE (TWAN’S FLICKR). After spending about 8 hours at the mall we decided to head back to Milwaukee, where we could sleep in peace and the guys had some recording time set up the next day. Marky and I made the drive on shifts back home. End of tour but still not at home. Twan and I were going to be staying in Milwaukee for another day or so. I was going to catch up on spreadsheets and finding out money stuff. We also had a lot of sales and orders to run through for work. What an end to a great time.
